The verbs abrir and fechar are used in special ways with weather: o tempo abriu (it cleared up) and o tempo está fechando (it’s getting cloudy).

Notes on Grammar

The Notion “Supposed to”

The notion “supposed to” is expressed with a form of ser + para + personal infinitive:

É para eu trabalhar domingo.	I’m supposed to work on Sunday.

In past time, replace é with era:

The form devia also conveys “was supposed to”:

”Should Have” in Past Time

The notion “should have” is expressed with devia ter + -do form:

The verb levar has many shades of meaning:

Use of Verbs: tomar (“take”)

The verb tomar also means “take” but in different contexts:
