Grammar Notes

  1. Sentence-final particles: The particle /phooŋ/ ‘also, too’ is used frequently in this unit. Note its position at the end of the clause.

  2. Sequential actions with /ruoc/: Two activities done in sequence use /kee tɨw dae leeŋ, ruoc tɨw sdap phleeŋ/ ‘They go there to stroll around, then they go to listen to music.’

  3. Expressing time with /maoŋ/: Clock time is expressed as /maoŋ/ + number, e.g. /maoŋ prmmuoy/ ‘six o’clock’.
