Bengali Months and Seasons
The Bengali calendar has 12 months: Boishakh, Joishtho, Ashar, Shraban, Bhadro, Ashshin, Kartik, Ogrohayon, Poush, Magh, Falgun, Choitro. Seasons: grishsho (summer), borsha (monsoon), shorot (autumn), sheet (winter), bosonto (spring).
Date Expressions: tarikh
Aaj ki tarikh? (What is today’s date?) Aaj ekosh maash (Today is the 21st). Tin maash (3rd of the month). Combine with month: Boishakh-er ekosh (21st of Boishakh).
Duration: din, shoptaho, maash, bochor
Ek din (one day), dui shoptaho (two weeks), tin maash (three months), chaar bochor (four years). Koto din? (How many days?) Ami tin din thakbo (I will stay three days).
